Whimsical Baptism

This cake was for a baptism reception for a baby girl and went to Manor Country Club. It looked so fun with the bright pink, yellow, and orange gerbera daisies.

Coordinating Cupcakes. Isn't that a cute idea for a cupcake stand?!? The family provided it and I thought it was just too cute!

Invitation Inspiration

This was an adorable baby shower cake that was inspired by the party invitation! I photographed it with the invitation it was designed from. Sometimes if you are not sure what design you would like for a baby shower, birthday party, bridal shower, etc, I can come up with a design based around your invitation. Just something to keep in mind when planning your next event!

Fall Cakes

This was one of my favorite cakes of the fall season. I hand made the leaves out of sugar, but the topper was made out of fresh flowers from JMC Floral Affairs (www.jmcfloralaffairs.com).

A Cake for a Kayaker

This was for a 50th birthday party for a gentleman that has kayaked in various countries. We replicated his own red kayak riding down a rapid. The water was made with piping gel, and the mountain and trees were airbrushed to give them a realistic look. The back of the cake displays signs at the different locations that he has kayaked.

Light Pink and Butter

This beauty went to the Stone Manor Country Club. It is a buttercream cake with buttercream piping detail and a few fondant details. It was topped with fresh flowers provided by the florist. It looks so soft and sweet. Love it!

Elegant Ivory

I love this one. It's very elegant with the leaves and vines in ivory. This cake has real ribbons in green and yellow around each tier and was topped with fresh flowers.

Fun fact: Real ribbons and lace can be put on a cake covered in fondant...they cannot be put on a buttercream cake. Just something to keep in mind when deciding what you would like on your own cake!

The Perfect '10!

Congratulations to all the graduates of 2010!

This cake was made for the daughter of one of my neighbors. I remember when she was only a little kindergartener, and now she will be attending American University this fall. Congratulations, Julia!

This cake was made for a joint graduation party. They did not attend the same high school, or participate in the same sports, but we were able to incorporate and highlight each of their high school colors and interests. Congratulations!

Sunny Summer

This cake was delivered to the Beautiful Stone Manor Country Club in Middletown, MD. Although it was a bit of a rainy day, the decoration inside the tent screamed sunny summertime! They used sunny yellow, hot pink, and bright orange as the colors and it looked so cheerful! Keeping their colors in mind, I dusted handmade sugar flowers in those bright colors and used them on the cake.

Family Traditions

Hello! It has been very busy at Cake I Do. With all the beautiful weddings of June, as well as graduations, we have so much to show you!

I have made this cake twice now and it is very unique. Part of this family's tradition is to use their grandmothers cake pans, that when put all together create a large "ring". It is a very sweet tradition which allows for a very special end result. This couples theme was "Virginia", so in true Virginia style, hand made dogwood blooms were placed all around the ring. It was delivered to the very elegant Cosmos Club in D.C., and it looked beautiful!

More to come!

The Golden Girls

I made these for a Golden Girls themed bridal shower for my neighbor. In true Golden Girls fashion, they are chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream. Yum!

Red Blooms

This is one of our cakes from the weekend. Cherry Blossom branches were painted onto a fondant cake and the blooms were painted and dusted a deep red. It looked great with the chosen decor!

Buttercream and Bows

This gorgeous wedding cake was delivered to Manor Country Club in Rockville, MD. I love this cake, and want to show it to you for 2 different reasons. This is a buttercream cake which is more cost effective than fondant, but equally as beautiful! If you don't want to compromise quality, but still want to stick within your budget, opting for buttercream over fondant is a good option. The other thing I love about this cake is the Bow topper. It just shows that there are so many creative options for what to place on the top of your event cake! Just something to keep in mind when deciding what you would like for your own wedding.

Fun Groom's Cakes!

Not only is a Grooms cake a cool way to show off one of your guys hobbies, it can also be of something that the two of you enjoy or have shared together in your relationship...the possibilities are always endless!

This couple wanted a special grooms cake and described to me their favorite date that they had been on together. Not only was it a great story, but it made for awesome inspiration for the cake!

Pink and Pearl

This cake was created for a bridal shower in April. It was the brides idea to have a "gown cake" and it is lovely! The dress was modeled after details in her own wedding gown! It was finished with a pearl sheen and small pink flowers.

Free Cupcakes!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my cakes! Cake I Do will be giving away cupcakes every other week to one loyal follower around the area. Every other Wednesday we will draw the name of one of our blog followers, and your cupcakes will be ready on Thursday! All you have to do is pick them up and enjoy!

We do ask that as you enjoy them, you give them ratings on flavor, consistency, and overall appearance. Flavors will change on a weekly basis. We will be trying out some new ones, and we want your honest opinion! (Don't worry, we won't be offended!)

The first drawing will take place on Wednesday March 10th! There is still time to get in on the action, and feel free to invite your friends to join as well!

Until then, enjoy the beautiful weather!

We had a perfectly busy weekend!

This weekend, we completed a floral "mock up" for a July wedding. Here are some of the chosen designs. Half of the centerpieces will be short with lanterns and half will be tall arrangements with curly willow.

So excited! The bride and groom chose great summer colors!

We also delivered a wedding cake to the beautiful Tremont Grand in Baltimore. What a gorgeous venue!

Have a great weekend!

Cake I Do...

and Flowers too! We will be expanding our company to offer wedding flowers! Here is a sample bouquet.

Hand tied, Pink Calla Lily bouquet. Check out the bling on the handle! More flower creations to come.

This past weekend was spent catching up on "snowed out" cake tastings, as well as a birthday cake. I forgot to take a picture. It was nice to have a whole snow week off, but it's time to get back to cake! This week we have a custom ordered brownie cake in store for us. It's not a typical wedding cake flavor, but it will certainly be yummy!

I was inspired by the snow...

...to build a snow cake! Maybe it was cabin fever, but I think it turned out pretty cool! (haha...cool. Get it? :o) With the help of Mother Nature and a few little helping hands we came up with this. All of the decorations are either snow, icicles, or berries/tree greens.

What can I say? I love what I do...no matter what the flavor!

No Cake Today

Sadly. Who can believe all of this snow??? It sure doesn't make for easy deliveries. I want to thank all of my clients for their flexibility in rescheduling our tastings/consultations. I look forward to meeting with you very soon!

There may be no cake today, but you could have plenty of ice cream. Snow Ice Cream, that is. This is a cute recipe my 5 year old neighbor gave me. Stay warm until next time, and enjoy the snow!

Snow Ice Cream
1 big bowl
clean snow (not the yellow snow)
powdered sugar
tiny drop of vanilla
a little milk or heavy cream

Mix all of the ingredients together and enjoy. Yum.
